MDI For Specialty Containers and Covers

MOLDED DEVICES, INC. offers a proprietary line of specialty containers and covers used both for in-plant protection of delicate machined parts and as shipping containers and guards.

 

GUARD-PAK containers are cylindrical containers with an opening on the long axis. The tough yet flexible vinyl provides protection against scratching, impact damage and contamination.

 

GUARD-POUCH
Similar to the GUARD-PAK but rectangular in cross-section, the GUARD-POUCH shares the same protective qualities of our cylindrical container. Like the GUARD-PAK, the GUARD-POUCH may be heat-sealed for more permanent packaging and protection.
 

END OPENING GUARD-SLEEVE
Our END OPENING GUARD-SLEEVE is a cylindrical container with an ingenious foldaway opening in the end that permits insertion of electrical connectors or installation over threaded features like cylinder rods.
 

EXPAND-O-GUARD
The EXPAND-O-GUARD is used as an outside cover for irregular shapes such as gears. Its button-and-buttonhole closure allows for adjustable lengths as well as permitting several EXPAND-O-GUARDS to be connected for extremely large parts.

Today it seems more difficult than ever to select the proper injection mold. As always, economics drive the final decision. Please ask yourself, “Am I getting what I am paying for?” The rules of mold construction have not changed. Outsourcing Your Plastic Molding Offshore – Beware Of The True Costs

The procuring of products, such as the parts used in manufacturing automobiles, aerospace and medical equipment parts from an outside the U.S. supplier or manufacturer in order to cut costs may sound good but consider some of the disadvantages.

Third world countries have more lenient environmental regulations than in the U.S. and pollution is still pollution even if it’s happening outside the U.S. Even if solar or wind power takes hold, most container ships are fueled by diesel.

Freight charges from Asia have significantly increased over the years, making the true cost of manufacturing abroad less appealing.

Molding is traditionally not a labor-intensive operation and many companies do not include the cost of shipping (landed cost), the cost of increasing inventory, which often happens due to the need to fill containers or the increase in cycle time (slower deliveries) because of increased distances.  MDI offers customers the option to have their tools made in lower cost countries or in our manufacturing plant located in Tempe, Arizona.  Tempe is your best choice if speed is the determining factor.

Swing sets rank high on the preschoolers’ list of favorite playthings. But playground equipment is also among the most hazardous, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. To help ensure safe play, the Commission makes these recommendations:

Moving parts on playground equipment should be wide enough not to catch or pinch or crush children’s toes or fingers. Separate swings a safe distance from one another, and support them by strong chains without open-ended S-hooks.
